About Us

Why choose Auburn Veterinary Hospital for your pet?

Auburn Veterinary Hospital was founded by the late Fintan Cooney and Michael King in 1989 having previously practiced as Cooney & King. Enda Finnerty (Mullingar native) joined the practice in 1993 and became a partner in 1996. Declan O’Brien joined the practice in 1996 and became a partner in 1998. Enda and Declan remain as co-directors of Auburn Veterinary Hospital Ltd.

The practice base has been at Auburn Road since 1990. Auburn Veterinary Hospital is a busy mixed practice with an increasingly busy small animal hospital, while retaining a large animal/farm practice. Our practice has progressively improved with modernisation of equipment, keeping pace with industry standards. We now have full gaseous anaesthesia facilities, digital x-ray, lab facilities for blood tests, full biochemistry and haematology.

Enda and Declan, work with veterinary surgeons, Caroline Farrell, Jenny Algar, Diane Farrar, Maria Paternottre and Cathal Conway to provide a comprehensive veterinary service to the people of Mullingar and surrounding area. Indeed we provide a referral service to outlying practices that need 2nd opinions, work ups, x-rays, blood test and surgeries.

Our veterinary nurses Jenny Gibson, Lee-Anne Maye and Jill Booker, our student nurse Rachel Coyle and our animal care assistant Roisin Dodd provide excellent nursing care to all our in-patients and nurses are always available to advise clients over the phone or in person at  Auburn Veterinary Hospital.

Amanda Mahony is our Practice Manager. Amanda handles the behind the scenes, accounts, orders etc. and is happy to answer and meet clients queries.

Yvette Cully is our testing clerk and looks after all our large animal disease eradication requirements, assisting vets on farm visits and looking after all the subsequent filing and reporting of tests.  Yvette also helps at reception where required.

Diana Wakefield works on reception, orders and accounts. Diana has gained a good working knowledge of the practice but will defer veterinary queries to the vets and vets nurses who are always on hand to answer any queries.
